Surviving the Wicked Storm

by Lordchain

/
1.
Innocence lost The guilty released A world of destruction Crying for peace Swallowed by hatred Driven by pride A spiritual wasteland Under darkening skies It’s time to rise up Let your life begin Let the old things pass away It’s time to shed your skin The world is in torment Like flesh in a flame We search for a new drug To kill the pain Censor the righteous So the evil can thrive The path to our freedom Is right before our eyes Look to the heavens See all is not lost There’s one who is worthy He carried your cross He sets free the captives And breaks every chain Step out of the darkness In Jesus’ name His love is matchless Mercy divine You were deserving of death Yet he gave up his life He is the door When there seems no way out Every tongue will confess And every knee shall bow
2.
Lay down all the burdens you carry Freedom isn’t found in your pain Cast off every single chain that binds Step out of the shadow of shame Don’t let the world lie to you Sowing seeds of doubt Don’t let the world lie to you There’s a way out They said I would never be good enough Voices whisper in my ear In the valley of the shadow of death There’s no evil that I fear
3.
Like a glitch in the matrix Life can turn on a dime Though we’ve not been forsaken It’s taken so long In a world that’s unkind Don’t let me fall Take this heart that beats inside me Only you can guide me Down the straight and narrow You’ve filled this emptiness inside me Only you can hide me Down the straight and narrow How much more can I hold on The earth begins to erode When it seems hope is far gone It’s not, I know I’m never alone Don’t let me fall I cannot do this alone One step into the unknown Even when I can’t see I know you go before me
4.
Before social media I thought all Christian bands Lived what they sang about, but I was wrong They seemed so sincere about their walk with Christ In magazine interviews and in the lyrics of their songs So I’m sending out this letter to the ones I thought truly believed Was it actually better back in the day When I was naïve Now there’s excuses for every sin and worldly pleasure That come across the mind It’s like trying to fit God into what the world will accept But to me it’s just a lie Now there is one question I don’t want to ask The finger points at me, am I wearing the mask
5.
I’ll spend time with the ones I love Right now, I’ve got things to do Then when it’s too late The regrets crash down on you The man who suddenly loses his voice Has so much that he wants to say Nearing the end of his journey He regrets all the wasted days Time, precious time You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone Tomorrow is not promised Right now, where do you stand Don’t let these moments slip away Hold on to them while you still can On this earth, your life and time Will come to an end Don’t throw away this priceless gift Cherish every moment that is spent Time, precious time You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone Don’t let it slip away
6.
Fragile Life 01:07
7.
In the end what will remain When there’s no one else to blame And you find yourself all alone No excuses, no more lies When there’s nowhere left to hide And you’ve strayed too far from your home Broken pieces I’m a life that has been shattered Lying broken on the floor Broken pieces In the hand of the master He brings peace to this civil war I’m my own worst enemy I make the circle complete You and I, we share the same tears When the dawn has come at last And the darkened veil has passed Unfounded were all our fears
8.
I don’t know how it came to this With our freedoms so at risk You cannot silence me The truth will stand I won’t bow down to the outrage mob They’re not my judge and they’re not my God I won’t bow down to the outrage mob So go ahead and cancel me I’m not the man that you think As you drown in the media’s lies
9.
In the midst of trials In the midst of pain, you are there When my life becomes a nightmare You wake me from my despair Tear down the walls around me Unshackle the chains that bind my heart Burn away all that’s left of me Until there’s only you In the midst of struggles When I feel that I’ve reached the end When I’m searching for the answers You rescue me again Burn me away ‘til only you remain Burn me away ‘til only you remain
10.
Right and wrong did not cease to be after the cross God knows what’s in your heart and he weeps for your loss Everybody sins The same old cliché Everybody sins You tell yourself as you turn away You walk away Christ did not die so you could justify your wickedness Grace is no excuse to ease the guilt of your selfishness Good works follow those who believe A call to repentance, so blinded eyes can now see
11.
Game Changer 04:59
Not held back by the pain any longer What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger All in or nothing at all I stand as my enemies fall So bring me the wasteland Cause now things are changin’ I’m not the same as before It’s time to light up the sky This is no time to die Here and now and forever more If you could see a world in need They love the poison that runs through their veins But I’ll scream the truth until my last breath fades Only two paths and one way out The future is here and it starts right now If I’m the last one left Until my final breath Upon this rock I stand Upon this rock I stand

His talent & influence will forever be in the legacy he leaves behind in the music that means so much to so many people all over the world. One day we’ll see you again when we meet you in heaven.

In Memory of Gregg Kendrick
Gregg was not only a stellar multi-instrumentalist & songwriter, but he was also family. God poured out talent on Jeff & Kelly’s cousin to no end. His final recordings are on this album.
